No Sleep Untill the Black Man Wins

Filed under: Non Sequiters for $500 Alex — qualifiedcondition @ 11:58 pm

This morning I woke up early and made my way to a senior citizens’ home to vote for whom I hope will be the first African American president ever, and who I believe will be the smartest and most inspiring president in a very long time.  That felt pretty amazing.  I also got to vote for whether or not I get to have civil rights in the state where I was born.  I’d rather not have to do that again, but on the bright side at least I got to vote.

In the past two presidential elections I have gone to bed thinking that there might be a chance that my guy would actually win, and I’ve awoken to the news that a paranoid frat boy with a Texas affectation will instead be running the country.  My bad.  I won’t be going to bed tonight until this country elects the smart black guy.

  1. Joel and I got in line around 6:50am with about 150 other people. A mom with her 2 elementary school aged kiddos was a few people behind us. At one point in line, the little girl (maybe 6 years old) said, “Mommy, I’m so excited! We’re voting!” It was adorable. We got super emotional standing in that line. We’ll keep you up tonight with beer and nutella crepes. We’re not going to sleep until this is an Obama nation. =)
